I don’t care too much for money, money can’t buy me love
(or snow, I’m sure Lennon also meant to say snow).
Sometimes I wonder if my boys will ever understand how truly fortunate they are in the most basic of ways – clean water, good health, more toys than are right for any one household. I wonder if they will ever learn that so much of the earth struggles for so many reasons. While I hope that they will come to know this not from firsthand experience, I fear almost equally the possibility that they might live their lives never really seeing themselves as blessed as they really are.
So how do I make right?
LOVE. Love, love, love, love, love. In the midst of the gift giving madness – love. In the middle of rush hour traffic – love. In between tantrums and spats and wrestling matches – love. Because from what I figure, as long as I can guarantee that the thing my two boys value most in the world is love, then the rest of their lives can’t help but bleed it. This is my wish on a night like tonight.
And since that probably won’t fit under the tree I’ll also put in a request for a new MacBook Pro. And go straight to bed now so Santa has a chance to check in before morning. Happy Holidays, friends.
I love you, Anjale.
