I have time!
Little brother is taking a nap which leaves big bro and I to lounge around the pool on this gorgeous (January!) Southern California afternoon.
The dogs are lolling about with us and I’m ecstatic to be browning up nicely – a bit like a Christmas turkey thanks to the holidays, but by spring break I plan to be bikini safe once again. Yet I’m not focused on my greased up pot belly, and that plus all the mid-winter Vitamin D I’m enjoying are surely a sign of a good year to come.
So far this afternoon we (and by ‘we’ I mean ‘him with me watching from a pool floatie’) have filled the water table, saved a bee from certain death, watered the garden with a squirt gun, emptied the water table, and boogie boarded on dry land.
And as soon as I realize that this is – alas! – a moment of unscheduled bliss, I decide, in turn, that at once I must fill it.
So, blogging I am.
And just as suddenly, blogging I’m not.
Because while I’m driven to fill this space with productivity, the true beauty of this moment looks as if it’s about to dodge off. So I’ll end just as suddenly as I began with gratitude to my son who just picked a tangerine that looks as though it deserves our combined undivided attention.
I’ll promise more vim and vigor next time around when the sun in my eyes proves a bit less distracting. For today the cold computer screen’s just no match.
Completely Jealous!
Should be.
And now that the four year old has just pointed out that my “tushy is burning” (!) I think it’s time to move this party to the shade.
so beautifully expressed anj..
Thx mama.
